Aluminium Putty is a universally applicable 2-c filler putty with a polyester basis. The putty is especially compact and pore-free.
Aluminium putty is suitable for the repair of dents in vehicle bodywork, steel constructions, to strip machine casing and to renovate cement, brickwork, etc. Dents with up to 15 mm depth can be levelled out on vertical surfaces. Given its high aluminium content, excellent corrosion protection is achieved. Sanding dust when dry grinding is removed quicker than with standard putties.
Thermoplastic paintwork: – Sand and buff undercoat and clean well i.e. with silicone remover. The substrate must be dry and in good condition, free from grease, mill scale and rust.
2-c lacquers: – Matt burnish and remove dust and grease.
Galvanised zinc-coated sheet steel: – Clean with thinner or ethyl acetate.
Sendzimer galvanised or hot-dipped sheets: – Clean with NC thinner or silicone-remover.
Aluminium substrates: – Lightly file (given the various aluminium alloys, an adhesion test should always be carried out beforehand).
Method of Use:
- The surface must be free from oil, dust, grease, loose lacquer, paint residues and rust.
- Filing the substrate with sandpaper will increase adhesion.
- Mix the required amount of putty with 2 − 3% hardening paste and apply immediately.
- Working time (pot life) approx. 5 minutes. Depending on the temperature and amount of hardener, the putty can be filed in 15 − 25 mins
